“This large drawing came from a small Coastal Banksia seed pod that caught my eye on a local bush track. I’m really interested in drawing things out of their normal scale…especially extra large! This process makes me look deeper at the detail and brings on an almost alien quality to the subject. I see these little Banksia ’towers’ as a curious bundle of mini caves or hi-rise apartments for tiny creatures. I hope that by distorting this otherwise insignificant little pod, the viewer will not just step over it, but pause and appreciate it’s true beauty and sculptural form.”
