“Monty is a friendly local Kookaburra that visits my home and studio on the NSW far north coast. Not at all camera shy, he seems quite curious as to what I’m doing. This is one of my favourite images of him, caught just as he woke from a head-tucked-under-wing nap. As he shook himself awake all the feathers on his head rose up for a split second creating this punk look that I was lucky to capture. I then drew him large in graphite pencil on watercolour paper”
